Forest Lake Academy is proud to offer a STREAM Program: Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts and Math.
We are committed to preparing our graduates with the skills they need to make a meaningful and responsible contribution founded on Christian principles for a tech-savvy society.
With this in mind we have developed an Engineering department and will be offering the course Principles of Engineering beginning in the 2017-18 school year. In addition, we will be adding an Intro to Biomedical course and Intro to Computer Science. We will continue to offer Robotics and Honors Robotics.
Forest Lake Academy’s STREAM program and the addition of the Engineering department will develop in our students a set of thinking, reasoning, teamwork, investigative, and creative skills that they will be able to use in all areas of their lives. Our goal is that the STREAM program at Forest Lake Academy will enable our students to shape the future.
We have already started plans to build a three story building dedicated to the STREAM program. It will house new Science Labs and classrooms, new Math classrooms plus a new Art studio. It will also be designed for our Robotics, Engineering and Computer Science classes.
“Every human being, created in the image of God, is endowed with a power akin to that of the Creator-individuality, power to think and to do. The men in whom this power is developed are the men who bear responsibilities, who are leaders in enterprise, and who influence character. It is the work of true education to develop this power to train the youth to be thinkers, and not mere reflectors of other men’s thought.” (E.G. White, Education 17)
