Forest Lake Academy is proud to offer a STREAM Program: Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts and Math.

We are committed to preparing our graduates with the skills they need to make a meaningful and responsible contribution founded on Christian principles for a tech-savvy society.

Forest Lake Academy's STREAM program will develop in our students a set of thinking, reasoning, teamwork, investigative, and creative skills that they will be able to use in all areas of their lives. Our goal is that the STREAM program at Forest Lake Academy will enable our students to shape the future.

Modeled after the MIT Media Lab and Google X Labs, the FLA Robotics and Innovation Lab serves as an incubator where the students, guided by mentors, can pursue projects that they are passionate about and develop 21st century industries. The lab currently supports the following interest groups: the Applied Robotics group, the Biomechatronics group, Server Technologies group, the Brain Control Interface group and the Simulation Group.

Innovation Workshops for the Classroom

The focus on STEM education—science, technology, engineering and mathematics—is an accepted necessity today. Unfortunately too many believe that it should be confined to math and science classrooms. The presence of 1 is 1 to 1 devices (such as ipad or Chrome books) does not guarantee students will be prepared for the non-existent technology rich careers they will encounter. School-wide STEM education takes place when every class and program of the school teaches utilizing a design and problem solving approach.

The Innovation Workshop Series provides teachers across all subject areas with classroom ideas, tools, resources, and classroom ready standards based lesson plans. Each workshop is designed to help educators develop and/or enhance a student-centered and inquiry-based method of teaching. Educators will learn and share techniques that enable students to learn in teams as they experience failure and success while learning through the process.
